IF I KNOW, I CAN

People in developing countries often experience a poor quality of life because of a lack of basic education and skills. Such countries face serious health challenges from water-bourne diseases such as cholera, HIV-AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. However, without understanding about these diseases they can’t protect themselves. If they know, they can.

If disadvantaged people have no practical skills they can’t earn a living or provide for their families. If, for example, they
were taught how to sew or bake bread in a drum oven they could clothe and feed their families and perhaps start a small business to earn a living.
God weeps because people without basic education and skills weep.
The “If I know, I can” principle is behind Mustard Seed Global’s life skills books.

ABOUT THE BOOKS

Written by Annette Marshall, a missionary in Papua New Guinea for nearly 20 years where Annette ran community training centres to equip village people, the books cover sewing and health issues in simple English.
Currently three books are available:
(1) 2 books on sewing providing skills from beginner’s to advanced sewing, and hundreds of sewing patterns for everything from carry bags to girl’s skirts and men’s shirts. Clear instructions using diagrams make the books accessible to those who cannot read.
(2) The first health book covering cleanliness. Other health books will cover first aid, sex education and contraception, child care, diet/healthy eating, and diseases.
